"Do not let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do, or cannot achieve. Do not allow it." - Emma Watson International Women's Day is a day that encompasses a lot of concepts & emotions. I love being a woman and I love that we have a day, but I also hate that we need to have a day... you know? Along with this general thought comes the discussions of: what's the point of this day? Is it activism? Is it appreciation? Is it celebration? Is it a reminder of the work we need to do? Is it for the #MeToo and #TimesUp and #HeforShe movements? *The answer to all those questions is, yes. Over these past 23.5 years, I've come to learn that I really am proud and happy to be a woman. I'm not always comfortable in my skin and sometimes my voice still trembles (I can't even tell you how scary have a blog is for me!) but I know that I have qualities that only I can bring to this world because of my femininity! ISN'T THAT JUST AMAZING?! This brand is named after two beautifully strong women. (See my about page!) I wish they would have been educated about this day more throughout their youth to remind them about their worth as wives, mothers, homemakers, caregivers and all around badasses. Over the past 4 or so years, I've had countless opportunities to photograph really inspiring and beautiful women. I'm using this post to celebrate them, honour them, and showcase all of their beauty & achievement. This post is for them. This post is for the movers and the shakers and the makers. This is for the work we still have to do but also how far we've come! This is for community over competition and respecting one another. CHEERS TO YOU, #GIRLBOSSES! Some of these photos below are linked to the amazing blogs/businesses these women run! *hands raised emoji* *heart eye emoji* In no particular order:Here's to strong women.
