Hi friends! Happy Friday!
I'm hopping on here really quickly to talk about something that I've been asked a few times in the past while: How did you come up with your brand colours?
I'm in no way a branding expert -- I can take great photos to create content and help your brand, but I'm not good at all the facets of it... not yet anyways! ;)
When it came to developing my brand, I looked at 3 things:
When it comes to colours that are genuinely unique, that's a hard one. A lot of brand trends lean towards bright white colours and pastels. I generally find that this type of branding encourages an "airy" and calming tone. I personally LOVE teals and lavenders but I knew they were overused and I knew that I needed to stand out a bit.
This is where I needed to look at what was working for me and at the time, my personal account was really working for me! I liked the look I had going on there and was using social media tools like Iconosquare and Preview App to help me achieve it! I looked closely and realized there were images that I had taken that really stood out to me.
It was from these images that I decided to draw my colours from. I loved the blues from the plates on the right (thrift store find, HECK YEAH!) and I loved the pinks in my print on the left (shoutout to Kal Barteski and her script magic!).
From here my task was easy: pop these into photoshop, use the little eyedropper tool and drag it around until something sticks!
Yeah, it was actually that easy!
I used the plates here and the Fiat [no, not the car ;)] print on my other image and voila! Branding colours!
There are obviously many different ways to figure out what colours best represent you and the look that you're trying to achieve - but this was what worked for me!
Have a great weekend!
